Education

         Amanda NG studied voice at the Royal College of Music, London (Master of Music in Vocal Performance) with a full scholarship under the tutelage of Veronica Veysey Campbell and Janis Kelly; and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (B.A in Music) with Siu-Kwan Chan. She was on the Dean’s List of CUHK and was a recipient of various scholarships, including Lee Bing Vocal Scholarship, K. Wah International Scholarship, Hong Kong Children's Choir Scholarship and the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence.

Operatic & Musical Roles

Amanda is a versatile singer who is active in both the operatic and musical theatre scenes. Her past roles include Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Frasquita in Carmen's Bizet, Serpetta in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Fortuna in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Little Red in Sondheim’s Into the Woods and Maria in Bernstein’s West Side Story with RCM Film Orchestra. She performed in numerous opera productions with Opera Hong Kong.

Performances

Amanda frequently appears as a vocalist in local and overseas events. She has performed in or collaborated with venues like National Portrait Gallery, Austrian Cultural Forum, Tai Kwun, K11 Musea, Museum of Art, Hong Kong Gold and Tennis Academy, to name but a few. Before the pandemic, she was repeatedly invited by the Hong Kong Economic Trade Office to give performances with her trio chamber ensemble in Estonia, Copenhagen, Spain and Paris.

Engagements

She was selected as one of Young Music Makers 2019 by RTHK Radio 4 with the title of “Adjudicators’ Choice”, being featured in a series of radio and TV programmes. She also won the 3rd Prize in the Senior Vocal Category of the 20th Osaka International Music Competition. She is currently a member of Opera Hong Kong Chorus and in the Hong Kong Phil Chorus Fellowship Programme 21/22

Teaching

         Ng has a great passion for music education. She is a singing teacher, conductor, vocal coach for choirs, and a speaker of Opera Appreciation Talks.  She has coached for Opera Hong Kong Children Chorus and their summer musicals, St Paul’s Co-educational College, Yip’s Children’s Choir and Diocesan Girls’ Junior School.  She is also repeatedly invited by LCSD to be the host of pre-performance appreciation sessions for operas in various music festivals, including Asia's premiere of “Autumn Sonata” in World Cultures Festival. In 2021, invited by Opera HK, she hosted a lecture series named  “What is Opera in layman terms?", in the hope of making opera more accessible to the public.
